City Studio, Locke Copenhagen
The interior of Locke Copenhagen has been meticulously crafted by the London-based design studio A-nrd, aiming to weave together Denmark's rich design heritage with the vibrant spirit found in Postbyen. The architectural design is notable for its monolithic appearance, featuring cylindrical structures made of concrete, terrazzo floors, and large floor-to-ceiling windows.
The narrative is guided by three pillars of modern Nordic simplicity that evoke thoughts of nature and the essence of home and coziness. The colour palette draws inspiration from the Copenhagen landscape with earthy tones like terracotta and chalky pinks, mossy greens inspired by oxidized copper roofs, and calming bluish-grey shades.
Each area in Locke Copenhagen offers a unique atmosphere, where the reception blends elements of historic and modern Copenhagen with red lime-washed walls and exposed wooden structures, evoking 17th-century Danish architecture, complemented by warm sculptural lighting. In the restaurant, cocktail bar, coffee bar, and lounge area, Scandinavian modernism comes to life with panels of pink limestone, layered draped textiles, and beautiful plants accompanied by large Celine Wright pendant lights. The coffee bar reflects the simple elegance of Danish masters such as Hans Wegner and Børge Mogensen, evoking the charm of a local bakery with natural materials like oak, stone, and cognac leather.
The rooms are designed by the renowned studio Grzywinski+Pons, known for their collaboration with Locke, emphasizing a design that resonates with its surroundings while preserving the intimate essence of the location.
