If a shoppable hotel room sounds like something from a design lover's fever dream, the newly launched Anthropologie x Locke Apartment at Locke de Santa Joana will make you pinch yourself. This one-bedroom apartment with a stunning private terrace lets you live inside a curated design story, while exploring one of Europe's most spirited cities.
Discover a living showcase of Anthropologie's Summer Collection – use that beautiful ceramic mug for your morning coffee, curl up with that textured throw for evening Netflix sessions, and wake up in bedding that feels every bit as good as it looks. Think of it as the ultimate try-before-you-buy experience (with the added magic of Lisbon's golden light).
Having spent the night, it’s fair to say we’re inspired. So here’s a round-up of the summer 2025 design trends we spotted during our stay, so you can inject a bit of Lisbon cool into your spaces back home.

Coastal 2.0 (minus the clichés)
Gone are the days when ‘coastal’ meant nautical stripes and driftwood art… *shiver* Take inspiration from the apartment’s new-wave (pun very much intended) seaside style. Think breezy linens in sun-faded tones of bleached white, soft sage, and dusty blue. Textured throws that beg to be touched. Layered fabrics channelling the easy elegance of a Mediterranean escape. All in all, the perfect backdrop for lingering over morning coffee on the terrace while watching Lisbon wake up below.

Lived-in maximalism
One of summer 2025's biggest interior design trends is about creating spaces that feel lived-in and personal, where every object has a story and nothing feels too precious to touch. Picture eclectic pieces layering together in a way that feels collected rather than coordinated. Botanical cushions squashed next to geometric throws. Mix ‘n’ match ceramics in an assortment of textures and patterns. The trick? Stick to a consistent colour story for a sense of cohesion and calm, rather than chaos.

Grounding with earth tones
Forget stark minimalism and 50 shades of grey – so noughties. The summer 2025 interior design trends embrace warm colours, natural materials, and organic textures. In the apartment, grounding tones of terracotta, ochre, sage and deep forest green encourage you to slow down and feel closer to nature. Meanwhile terracotta vases, woven baskets, and stone-like ceramics are a reminder to embrace the beauty of imperfection (and if that’s not a metaphor for life, we don’t know what is). Aaannd breathe.

Curved, sculptural shapes
Sharp corners are OOO for the summer. The apartment embraces curves and waves that add personality and soften the space. Imagine arched mirrors that reflect Lisbon's terracotta rooftops baking in the sun. Wavy ceramic lamps that cast interesting shadows as the evening closes in. Curved furniture that draws you in like a hug. Even the sculptural salt and pepper shakers are a work of art – and why not bring a bit of beauty into ordinary objects? It makes everyday life that little bit more lovely.

Indoor-outdoor living
Is there anything better than throwing open your doors to the Portuguese sunshine? Okay, so most of us might not have guaranteed good weather back home… But there are other ways to brighten up your outdoor space. Treat it as an extension of your home (rather than an afterthought) with chic furniture, comfy textiles, portable lighting, and even an outdoor rug. Hey presto: suddenly your home feels twice the size – and you’ll feel way more inclined to get that all-important fresh air.
